Three endpoints are free and need no key: /api/v1/public/stats (coverage and 24-hour flow totals, split into exchange withdrawals, exchange deposits and DEX swaps), /api/v1/public/top-tokens and /api/v1/public/whale-index. They return JSON with CORS enabled, are cached for 60 seconds and are licensed CC BY 4.0 with the attribution “Deep Blue Alpha (deepbluealpha.io)”.

Fields
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
tracked_wallets / tracked_tokens | Size of the tracked whale set and the number of tokens seen. |
latest_transaction_utc | Time of the newest recorded move — a freshness check. |
window_24h.buy_volume_usd / sell_volume_usd | Direction of flow over 24 hours. Most of it is exchange transfers, not swaps; the three split fields below break it out. |
dex_swap_volume_usd | DEX swap volume (the trades). |
exchange_withdrawal_volume_usd / exchange_deposit_volume_usd | Tokens moved off / onto exchanges. |
distinct_buyers | Distinct wallets on the accumulation side in 24 hours (field name kept for compatibility). |
Notes and limits
- Need more than aggregates without paying? The free 7-day sample CSV has move-level rows (top 10 coins, up to 5,000 rows, refreshed weekly), and the free MCP server answers per-token questions for AI assistants.
Errors
503— Data temporarily unavailable (top-tokens, whale-index).
FAQ
Where can you get Ethereum whale data for free?
Deep Blue Alpha publishes three no-key JSON endpoints (/api/v1/public/stats, /top-tokens, /whale-index), a free MCP server at https://deepbluealpha.io/mcp and a free 7-day sample CSV of labeled whale moves at https://deepbluealpha.io/data/sample.csv. All are CC BY 4.0 with attribution.
Do the free endpoints need an API key?
No. They are open, CORS-enabled and cached 60 seconds. Authenticated endpoints under /api/v1 need a key from the Whale or Business plan.
