The Whale Sentiment Index is a daily 0–100 score of whether tracked Ethereum whale flow leaned to the accumulation side (above 50) or the distribution side (below 50). GET /api/v1/public/whale-index returns it free, without a key; GET /api/v1/whale-index returns the same payload inside the API envelope.

/api/v1/public/whale-index and the badge: none (CORS enabled). /api/v1/whale-index: API key in the X-API-Key header (or the ?api_key= query parameter). Create a key on your account page once you are on the Whale plan or a Business plan. Keys are shown once at creation.429.Example request (curl)

Fields

score / label | Today’s 0–100 score and its label. Above 50 = flow leaned to the accumulation side. |
trade_sentiment / volume_sentiment | Accumulation-side share of today’s whale moves and of whale USD volume. Context, not inputs to the score. |
dex_trades / cex_transfers / dex_pct / cex_pct | Flow-mix fields. Their scoping is being corrected (they currently count more than tracked-whale moves), so do not rely on these four values yet; use score, label and history. |
history | Daily scores for the last 30 days. |
stale | true if today’s value could not be refreshed. |
Notes and limits
- Method: how the index is computed. The index describes past flow; it is not a forecast.
- The authenticated endpoint falls back to a simpler 24-hour accumulation-side share if the index payload is unavailable, and returns
503if neither is available.
Errors
401— Missing, invalid or revoked API key.403— The key belongs to a plan below Whale (and has no Business plan).429— Daily limit reached. Resets at 00:00 UTC. Back off; do not retry in a tight loop.503— Index data temporarily unavailable.
