Quick Answer · TL;DR

Over September 11 to October 10, 2026 (UTC), tracked Ethereum whale wallets moved $88.28M of ONDO and $69.48M of LINK. ONDO led on dollars and whale moves; LINK led on wallets, 137 to 82. Scaled by market cap the gap is wide: ONDO whale moves equaled 3.58% of its market cap, LINK’s 0.68%.

Both leaned toward coins leaving exchanges. $36.52M of LINK net left exchanges (76.3% withdrawal share) and $29.11M of ONDO (67.0%). The single largest move in each token was an exchange withdrawal on the same day, September 30. In the latest week the two converged, with withdrawal shares of 72.9% for LINK and 73.2% for ONDO. 35 wallets moved both.

ONDO is the one token here with visible DEX activity (3.3% of whale dollars, 12.0% in the latest week), but exchange flow still dominated both. Live data: /token/LINK and /token/ONDO. Updated October 2026.

LINK and ONDO are compared often because they sit on the same infrastructure theme from two different angles. Chainlink supplies the data and messaging that on-chain applications rely on; Ondo issues tokenized U.S. Treasury products. Both get grouped under the real-world-asset conversation, and both are ERC-20 tokens, which means Deep Blue Alpha can see every move tracked whale wallets make in them.

What makes this pairing unusual is that neither token clearly “wins” on whale activity. ONDO had more whale dollars; LINK had more whale wallets. Below is the full comparison, then a closer look at the parts that a single headline number would hide.

Which had more whale activity: LINK or ONDO?

Split decision, and the split is the useful part. ONDO had more whale dollars ($88.28M vs $69.48M, about 1.27 times as much) and more whale moves (652 vs 570). LINK had far more whale wallets (137 vs 82). So LINK’s activity came from a wider base of large wallets, each moving smaller amounts on average, while ONDO’s came from fewer wallets moving more.

Size makes the difference starker. LINK’s market cap was about 4.15 times ONDO’s ($10.24B vs $2.47B), yet ONDO drew more whale dollars in absolute terms. Relative to market cap, ONDO whale moves equaled 3.58% of its value over the month and LINK’s 0.68%. As a description of relative whale attention, ONDO was the busier token; as a description of how many large wallets were involved, LINK was.

Which direction did each token’s whale flow lean?

The convention used throughout Deep Blue Alpha: coins withdrawn from an exchange are the accumulation-side read, because they move away from where they are most easily sold; coins deposited to an exchange are the distribution-side read. It is a heuristic for describing flow, not evidence of what any wallet intends.

LINK leaned harder. Tracked whales withdrew $52.92M and deposited $16.40M, a 76.3% withdrawal share and $36.52M net leaving exchanges — the larger net of the two despite the smaller gross. Deposits were light all month.

ONDO leaned the same way, with more coming back. Tracked whales withdrew $57.25M and deposited $28.14M, a 67.0% withdrawal share and $29.11M net leaving exchanges. ONDO saw almost $12M more deposited to exchanges than LINK did, which is why its larger gross produced a smaller net.

ONDO’s DEX activity: the exception in this pair

For most large-cap Ethereum tokens, whale flow is almost entirely exchange deposits and withdrawals, and LINK fits that pattern: DEX swaps were 0.2% of its whale dollars, with $32.3K of DEX swap buys and $127.9K of DEX swap sells. ONDO is different enough to call out. Tracked whales made $2.85M of DEX swap buys of ONDO over the month against $48.9K of DEX swap sells, putting DEX swaps at 3.3% of ONDO whale dollars. In the latest week, October 4 to 10, the DEX share rose to 12.0%, with $1.36M of DEX swap buys.

Vocabulary check: the $2.85M figure is the only part of ONDO’s whale flow that is a purchase on-chain — whales bought that ONDO through DEX swaps. The other 96.7% was exchange transfers. Describing ONDO’s whole month as “whales bought ONDO” would overstate it; “whales pulled ONDO off exchanges, plus $2.85M of DEX swap buys” is accurate. The exchange withdrawals vs DEX buys study covers why the two are kept apart.

Wallet addresses are shortened. Deep Blue Alpha does not attribute these wallets to any person or entity.

Two patterns stand out. First, the largest single move in each token happened on the same day, September 30, and both were withdrawals from exchanges: $5.08M of LINK and $5.69M of ONDO, by different wallets.

Second, each token has one wallet that appears twice in its top three. 0xa2448c…ec6f withdrew $2.70M of LINK on September 24 and $2.62M on October 2, a combined $5.32M or 7.6% of LINK’s month. 0x6f8929…0c9b withdrew $3.39M of ONDO on September 21 and $5.69M on September 30, a combined $9.08M or 10.3% of ONDO’s month. Overall concentration was moderate — the top three moves were 15.0% of LINK’s whale dollars and 13.2% of ONDO’s — but a repeat wallet is worth knowing about, because a second large withdrawal from the same address is one holder continuing, not a second holder joining.

35 wallets moved both LINK and ONDO

Over the 30-day window, 35 tracked wallets moved both tokens: 42.7% of ONDO’s 82 whale wallets and 25.5% of LINK’s 137. Across both there were 184 distinct wallets, so about one in five was active in both.

The asymmetry is the interesting part. Four in ten of the large wallets that touched ONDO also touched LINK, while only one in four LINK wallets touched ONDO. Read plainly, ONDO’s whale base overlaps heavily with LINK’s, while LINK has a large group of whale wallets with no ONDO activity at all this month. That may reflect LINK being the larger and older token with a broader holder base, but the data shows only the overlap; it does not identify the wallets or explain their reasons. And as with any overlap stat, a shared wallet can move the two tokens in opposite directions.

The latest week: LINK cooled, ONDO tilted

The two tokens met in the middle. LINK’s whale dollars fell 37.9% week over week, from $24.70M to $15.33M. Withdrawals roughly halved while deposits held steady, so the withdrawal share eased from 83.4% to 72.9% and net leaving exchanges fell from $16.45M to $7.02M.

ONDO moved the other way on direction. Whale dollars fell 65.5%, from $33.38M to $11.53M, but deposits fell much more than withdrawals — from $14.93M to $2.72M. The withdrawal share rose from 53.3% to 73.2% and net leaving exchanges rose from $2.10M to $4.70M. The prior week had been close to balanced for ONDO; the latest week was not.

Price context for the same window

Over the 30 days to October 11, 2026, CoinGecko data showed ONDO up 40.7% and LINK up 13.9%; over the final seven days ONDO was up 2.3% and LINK down 5.1%. Both remained roughly three-quarters below their all-time highs: LINK 74.7% below and ONDO 76.3% below.

These price figures sit next to the whale data rather than explaining it. LINK had the larger net leaving exchanges over the month and the smaller price change; ONDO had the larger price change and the larger share of deposits coming back to exchanges. Over a single month, the relationship between where large holders moved coins and where price went is loose, and this page does not draw a line between them. What the comparison does show is which token large tracked wallets were busier in, relative to its size, and in which direction those wallets moved coins.

What LINK and ONDO are

Chainlink (LINK) is a decentralized oracle network that delivers off-chain data, such as asset prices, to smart contracts, along with cross-chain messaging. LINK is used to pay node operators and for staking in the network. The token launched in 2017. As of October 11, 2026 it was priced around $13.35. Live whale flow: /token/LINK; sector view: /whales/oracles.

Ondo (ONDO) is the governance token associated with Ondo Finance, which issues tokenized products backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries and similar assets. The token became transferable in January 2024. As of October 11, 2026 it was priced around $0.507. Live whale flow: /token/ONDO; sector view: /whales/rwa.

Checklist: compare LINK and ONDO on the live pages

This page refreshes monthly. Between refreshes, five checks on the live token pages reproduce it:

  1. Match the windows. Open /token/LINK and /token/ONDO on the same time range.
  2. Split the flow by type. Separate exchange withdrawals and deposits from DEX swaps. For ONDO in particular, the DEX share moves around week to week.
  3. Compare dollars and wallets separately. One token can lead on one and trail on the other, as this pair did.
  4. Look for repeat wallets in the largest moves. Sum a repeat wallet’s moves and divide by the total to see its share.
  5. Compare the latest week with the week before. Check direction on each token before describing either one’s current flow.

Methodology

All whale figures are whale-scoped, counting only wallets on Deep Blue Alpha’s tracked whale list — about 21,880 Ethereum wallets at this update. Exchange-flow rows are retained for 30 days, so September 11 to October 10, 2026 is the full window available. Windows are in UTC. “Whale $ moved” is exchange withdrawals plus exchange deposits plus DEX swaps by tracked wallets. Prices, market caps, price changes and all-time-high distances are from CoinGecko at October 11, 2026, 18:30 UTC. Wallets are shown shortened and are not attributed to any owner.

Bottom line

Over September 11 to October 10, 2026, ONDO drew more whale dollars ($88.28M vs $69.48M) and far more relative to its size (3.58% of market cap vs 0.68%), while LINK drew more whale wallets (137 vs 82). Both leaned toward the accumulation side, with $36.52M of LINK and $29.11M of ONDO net leaving exchanges, and the largest single move in each was a withdrawal on September 30.

ONDO is the token in this pair with real DEX activity, $2.85M of DEX swap buys over the month, and 35 wallets moved both tokens — over four in ten of ONDO’s whale wallets. These are observations of past flow; any decision built on them belongs to the reader.
